The Princess and The Frog

The Princess and The Frog

Tiana: Very funny. So what now? I reckon[猜想] you want a kiss?
Naveen: Kissing would be nice, yes? (Tiana screams.) I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I, I did not mean to scare you. I...wait, no, no, no! Wait, hold on a second. You have a very strong arm, princess. Okay, please! Put the monkey down!
  Tiana: Stay back or I’ll...I’ll...
Naveen: Please, please, please! Oh well, allow me to introduce myself: I am Prince Naveen…of  Maldonia.
Tiana: A prince? But I didn’t wish for any...hold on, if…if you’re the prince, then...then who was that waltzing with Lottie on the dance floor?
Naveen: All I know is one minute I am a prince, charming and handsome, cutting a rug[跳舞], and the next thing I know, I am tripping[绊倒] over these. Wait, wait, wait...wait! I know this story! Di Frogie Prutto!
  Tiana: The Frog Prince?
Naveen: Yes, yes! My mother had the servants read this to me every night. Yes, yes, yes! So this is exactly the answer! You must kiss me!
  Tiana: Excuse me?!
Naveen: You will enjoy it, I guarantee. All women enjoy the kiss of Prince Naveen. Come, we pucker[撅起嘴]. (stomach inflating[充气胀大]) That’s new.
Tiana: Look, I’m sorry. I’d really like to help you, but I just do not kiss frogs.
Naveen: Wait a sec[即second]! But on the balcony[露台], you ask me...
Tiana: I didn’t expect you to answer!
Naveen: Oh, but you must kiss me. Look, besides being unbelievably handsome, okay, I also happen to come from a fabulously wealthy family. Surely I could offer you some type of reward or a wish I could grant perhaps? Yes?
  Tiana: Just…one kiss?
Naveen: Just one, unless you beg for more.

  姐姐的守护者  my sister's keeper
my sister's keeper

  Campbell: What is your name?
  Anna: Anna Fitzgerald.
Campbell: What can I do for you, Anna?
Anna: That is so cool! I want to sue my parents for the rights to my own body.
Campbell: Would you repeat that, please?
Anna: I want to sue my parents for the rights to my own body. My sister has leukemia[白血病]. They’re trying to force me to give her my body parts.
Campbell: You’re supposed to give her a kidney[
Anna: She’s been in renal[肾的] failure for months now.
Campbell: Well, no one can force you to donate if you don’t want to, can they?
Anna: They think they can. I’m under 18. They’re my legal guardians.
  Campbell: They can’t do that.
Anna: Well, that’s what I want you to tell them, because they’ve been doing it to me my whole life! I wouldn’t even be alive if Kate wasn’t sick. I’m a designer baby. I was made in a dish to be spare parts for Kate.
Campbell: You’re kidding, right? (going through the files) The kid wasn’t lying. The doctors started taking things from her the moment she was born.
Cord[即umbilical cord,脐带] blood as an infant, white-cell transfusions[输血], bone marrow[骨髓], lymphocytes[淋巴细胞], injections to add more stem cells, and then they took them, too. But it was never enough. (to Anna) You do know what will happen if you don’t give your sister your kidney, don’t you?
  Anna: Yeah, she’ll die.

Brian: (narrating) I looked at my daughter and wondered how it got from there to here. From the moment we decided to
genetically conceive[怀孕], I suppose this was the eventual
outcome. It was our fault. We went against nature and this was our comeuppance[因果报应]. But have we really pushed her too hard? Have we forced her into helping her sister? All those little encouragements and rewards, were they real? Or did we just want what we wanted? She was so little when all this started. When did she start wanting to make her own decisions? I guess the answer is now.
Sara: What do you mean you don’t know?
Brian: She won’t talk. You know, maybe she just wants to be considered, take the credit that it’s her decision. I don’t know. Maybe it’s not crazy.
Sara: What? You don’t want her to do it?
Brian: I didn’t say that. But it’s against her will, so how does that work? Do you hold her down, or do I?
  Sara: Don’t be dramatic[
Brian: You gonna take her ankles, I’ll take her wrists? She’s not a baby any more. You just can’t trick her with something.
  Sara: I know.
  Brian: So then what?
  Sara: I don’t know.
Brian: You want to sedate[给…… You get her handcuffs[手铐]? Tell her we’re going to get ice cream again? Because if we do, every day for the rest of her life, she’s gonna look at us like we forced her, like we used her. And she’ll be right.

Sara: For Christ’s sake, Brian, I didn’t do this. Whose side are you on?
Brian: Side. What sides? Are there sides now? She doesn’t want to do it.

Judge: So Anna, for the record[正式公开宣称], did you tell Kate you would stop being a donor so that she could die?
  Anna: Yeah.
Judge: And what did she say?
  (Flashback.)
Anna: Mom and Dad are gonna kill me. What am I supposed to tell them?
Kate: Tell them you’re important, too. Tell them you wanna play soccer. Tell them you wanna cheerlead.
  Anna: They’ll never believe me.
Kate: Yeah, they will. And you wanna know why?
  Because it’s the truth.
  Anna: Oh boy…
  Kate: I know.
  Anna: You scared?
Kate: No. I know I’ll be okay.
Anna: What do you think happens? I mean, where do you go?
Kate: I don’t know, baby. But who knows? Wherever it is, maybe I’ll run into Taylor.
Anna: Will you wait for me?
  Kate: What?
Anna: If you go anywhere crazy, will you wait? I mean, how will I know how to find you?
Kate: If you’re ever lost or scared, go to Montana.
  Anna: Montana?
Kate: Yeah. That’s where I’ll be.
  Anna: Okay.
  (Flashback ends.)
Judge: What did she say, Anna?
  Anna: She said, “Thanks.”

For goodness sake, don’t tell him!
What’s the matter now, for God’s sake?

BedTime Stories
Bed Time Stories

Mickey: (Interpreting) “I spent the last week in the hotel,
the hotel where I live, with my niece and my nephew. To a kid, everything about a hotel is strange and
wonderful: sleeping in a different bed, hanging out in the lobby, jumping up and down on the alligator[短吻鳄]… (correcting) riding up and down in the elevator[电梯]!

“Some hotels try to make it seem as much like home as possible. But they’re missing the point. If you wanted to stay in a place like home, then why not stay at home? Our guests should experience an escape from the everyday. And that’s what I’d like to capture in our new hotel, what every kid knows and what every adult has forgotten. Like my father said to me, your fun is only limited by your imagination.”

  Skeeter: Yeah?
  Wendy: Hey.
Skeeter: Oh, hey. Welcome back. So you mad at me, too?
Wendy: Not as mad as Jill, but…mad, yes.
Skeeter: I didn’t know the new hotel was going up there.
  Wendy: I figured that.
Skeeter: Then what are you mad at? That I gave the kids junk food?
Wendy: No, I figured you’d do that too. I’m mad because you told my kids that in real life there are no happy endings.
Skeeter: Well, look around you, Wendy. Do you see any happy endings here?
Wendy: I don’t know. You and Dad always had so much fun in this room. For whatever reason, I didn’t. I was always the cynic[愤世嫉俗者], the sourpuss[讨人嫌的家伙].
Skeeter: The black cloud, the energy drainer[打击士气的人], the dead fish[冷漠的人].
Wendy: Yes, all of those things. But when I left Bobbi and Patrick with you, I guess I just was hoping you’d rub off on them, you know, get them to be lighter, have fun, enjoy themselves. I thought Dad would like that. Anyway… I got a job in Arizona – teaching, not principaling.
  Skeeter: That’s cool.
Wendy: Yeah, well, maybe you can come visit when we get settled. I know by then the kids will really want to see you.
Marty: (narrating) And so Skeeter sat on his bed, filled with regret, wondering how to put the pieces of his life together after one magical week.
  Skeeter: Great ending, huh?
Marty: That was your ending, son? I thought this was just a sad part, and you were about to make it better!
Skeeter: What do you mean? How could I make it any better?
Marty: Well, in the stories I told you, just when things looked bleakest, the hero would do something
unexpected and courageous[勇敢的] to beat the bad guy, save the day, and get the girl!
Skeeter: Yeah! How can I do that?
Marty: It’s your story, not mine. But you better get moving.
  Go get ’em, son!

I hope that some of her good qualities will rub off onto you.
