New York City’s oddest holiday attraction: writers in a fancy restroom, musing about(思考) toilet paper!
  From uexpress.com

P&G Procter & Gamble(简称P&G,全球最大的日用品公司之一,总部设在美国俄亥俄州的辛辛那提市) announced in October that it again created and hosted a public restroom for the holiday season in New York City’s Times Square(时报广场,其名称源自《纽约时报》早期在此设立的总部大楼) as a promotion for Charmin(P&G公司旗下的一个卫生纸品牌) tissue(纸巾). The installation of 2008 was merely specially outfitted toilet facilities, but in 2009 P&G upgraded by hiring five bloggers (原意是指一款由Google公司提供的免费网络日志发布工具,这里指“写博客的人”) (“Charmin Ambassadors”) to “interact” with the expected “hundreds of thousands of bathroom guests” and wrote about their experiences with Charmin tissue on the company’s Web site (and included “family-friendly” photographs). P&G was calling the campaign “Enjoy the Go.”

  $40,000 left at holy site—for safekeeping(保管)
  From AFP

Operators of a Catholic shrine(神祠,教堂) in Maryland(马里兰州,位于美国东海岸的中部,有“自由之州”的称号) thought they had been blessed with a big donation when a worker found $40,000 worth of rare coins on the grounds.
But officials at Mount St. Mary’s University said later that the bags of money had only been left at the National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes(位于马里兰州的一个神祠,Grotto指的是“人工洞穴”,据闻圣母玛丽亚在法国小镇Lourdes的一个洞穴出现过,因此Lourdes以其为罗马天主教的圣地而出名。而National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes是此洞穴的一个复制品,建于1875年) for safekeeping.
Shrine Director William Tronolone said the owner returned to retrieve(重新找到) them about a week later.
The unidentified(未经确认的) owner told the director she wanted the Blessed Virgin Mary(圣母玛丽亚) to watch over(看管) her treasure while she was out of town.
